Delphi Adventure Resort, Co. Galway

The wilderness of the Delphi Adventure Resort, located in the picturesque landscape of Connemara, has a bit of something for everyone. The best thing about it is that it has both family and adult packages, and a spa too. So if you’re not particularly the ‘outdoorsy’ type and don’t want to participate in every activity, then you can hit up the spa instead.

With up to 20 activities on offer from kayaking to zip-ling, surfing and so much more, this is a hub for outdoor excursions and a great way to treat the children to the ultimate fun-filled staycation. Whether it’s for a day trip or an overnighter, visitors can stay in the centre’s adjacent hostel or its four-star hotel.

A family summer package includes : Bed & Breakfast (2 – 5 Night Options) + 1 Dinner, 1 Land Activity, Kids Movies shown each evening and 1 complimentary hour for adults in Delphi Spa’s Thermal Suite – Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna

Dunmore Adventure, Co.Waterford

If you’re planning a family getaway to Waterford this summer then you’ve got to add Dunmore East Adventure Centre to your itinerary. With over 20 years of experience, there’s so many fun-filled adventure activities to choose from including kayaking, stand up paddle-boarding, climbing, caving and power fan freefall.

The best thing about Dunmore Adventure though is its Wibit wipeout course – Ireland’s biggest obstacle course on water where you can swing, jump, slide and run around a floating aquapark, and have the ultimate laugh.

Contact info@dunmoreadventure.com to book your activities in advance. Some hotel options in Waterford range from four-star Haven Hotel in Dunmore East or five-star The Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore which is a bit further afield.

Baysports, Athlone, Co. Westmeath

Ireland’s largest inflatable park, Baysports, located in Hodson Bay, just 10 minutes from Athlone town centre. If the sun happens to come out on your visit to Baysports, you’ll feel like you're abroad splashing around.

Baysport has evething form towers to trampolines and slides, and of course a deadly obstacle course. For the avid water sports enthusiast who just can’t get enough, it also have kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding too. I suppose in a nutshell it’s a pretty cool inflatable island that promises a fun day out in the water.

Reach new heights this summer with a visit to Ireland’s biggest theme park, Tayto Park. The ultimate day out for the family, there’ll be plenty of roller-coaster stomach churns, one to many bags of crisps and a visit to the zoo and petting area.

The much-loved theme park has drawn in crowds far and wide over the years and unsurprisingly, it’s a place that’s gets better and better with each visit. Besides, the adrenaline-filled roller-coaster rides, one of my favourite parts about a visit to Tayto Park is seeing just how the iconic Tayto crisp is made.

You can venture out on a self-guided tour for free as part your entry ticket and get an inside look at the factory through special viewing windows. Other activities on site include Mr. Tayto’s Pony Trail, Flight School, Steam Train Express, Sheriff’s Shuffle and so much more.

Interestingly, you can only use your car upon arrival and departure on site, so to get around you have to use bikes - you can rent or bring your own.The standout feature has to be the Subtropical Swimming Paradise, which is heated to 29.5C and looks spectacular.
